Analyst Site Visit & Business Update
Biofuels is today hosting an analyst visit to its Teesside 1 plant at Seal
Sands. Ahead of this visit, the Group is issuing the following update.
During the first week of September, Biofuels successfully started a test trial
period during which the Teesside 1 plant was run at varying high rates of
production capacity. To date, the plant has achieved 30 tonnes per hour
production levels, approximate to 91% of maximum plant throughput capacity.
This follows production levels achieved in July of 65% of nameplate capacity and
production levels in August of 53% following a number of technical issues,
typically associated with a new plant, which have been resolved.
Demand for biodiesel continues to grow strongly in the UK and Continental Europe
reinforcing the Group's belief that the level of demand will continue to
outstrip supply. As a low-cost producer, the Group is well-placed to benefit
from strong demand levels and, whilst selling all biodiesel produced, continues
to record sales at prices in line with expectations.
The Group remains within the banking facilities that were agreed in May, and
expects to continue to be so. In addition, due to prudent cash management, the
#7.3 million proceeds of its recent share placing remain available to provide
additional working capital and funding for the design of additional plant
capacity.
