ATLANTA, Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Craneware, Inc., the healthcare market leader in automated revenue integrity solutions, today announced that, as part of its 2012 Craneware Cares program, employees supported the Villa la Paz (House of Peace) Center for Destitute and Sick Children in Peru to help children whose families are unable to afford medical treatment. As part of Craneware's corporate responsibility efforts, two teams of "Leadership in Action" volunteers spent a week in Peru and worked with Villa la Paz medical staff to care for children suffering from a wide range of ailments such as leukaemia, cancer, cleft lip and cerebral palsy.

The Villa la Paz was founded in 1983 by Dr. Tony Lazzara, a pediatrician and former tenured professor of Neonatal Medicine at Emory University. As 50 percent of all deaths in Peru occur in children under age 15, often because families are unable to afford medical care, Dr. Lazzara founded the children's clinic, located 30 miles outside of Lima. The clinic, which now houses approximately 55 children, provides 24-hour medical care, food and other needs without charge, and children return to their families after their health is restored. More than 1,020 children have received treatments and care at Villa la Paz to date.

"Craneware Cares and the 'Leadership in Action' volunteer program are important ways to extend the company's values of honesty, integrity, hard work, service, quality, and enjoying the challenge to serve the greater good," said Craneware CEO, Keith Neilson. "We are proud to have partnered with this amazing foundation and are happy to report that we exceeded our donation goal of $20,000. Villa la Paz is truly a special clinic and home. Our volunteers were touched by the work of Dr. Lazzara and his team and were honored to work alongside them for a week. Meeting these remarkable children and helping them get medical care and treatment in the hope that they will soon return to their families, was a life-changing experience."

The financial contributions raised by the Craneware Cares program will help Villa la Paz care for the children and will allow the non-profit organization to purchase necessities.

"The hard work and fundraising support we received from the Craneware volunteers is a brilliant example of the kind of benefit corporate initiatives can bring to organizations around the world, like Villa la Paz, that are dedicated to changing the lives of sick children and their families," said Dr. Lazzara. "Here at the foundation, we are looking toward a future where this kind of generosity continues to gain momentum, and where we at Villa la Paz can continue to pursue our mission to help get children the medical care they need. As part of that future, we are also seeking a new leader, ideally another pediatrician, with a lifelong commitment to caring for underserved children and a readiness to take the reins of this clinic that is so crucial to the communities it serves."
