Iberdrola SA said Monday that its subsidiary ScottishPower has won seabed rights to develop three offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 7 gigawatts in Scotland.

The Spanish energy player said the projects include two large-scale floating wind farms in partnership with Royal Dutch Shell PLC.

The projects will allow for the production of enough clean energy to power almost 8.5 million homes, according to the company.
