value-added products derived from rice bran, announced today that
the Company has received notification that the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) has granted RBT's petition to consider rice
bran fiber as a dietary fiber.
Ingredients containing two or more of the following cell wall
fibers: cellulose, lignin; pectin; arabinoxylan and
beta-glucan, in varying proportions fall within FDA's broad
category of 'mixed plant cell wall fibers' that the agency intends
to include as dietary fibers. Rice bran fiber contains a mix of
cellulose, arabinoxylan, lignin and pectin.
