NYSE Program Trading Rose Last Week As Total Volume Grew

Program trading grew last week on NYSE Euronext's (NYX) New York
Stock Exchange as total volume grew.
The daily program-trading average was 630.6 million shares, or
28.1% of the average total volume of 2.24 billion shares. Those
figures are up from 583.9 million shares, or 27.3% of the
2.14-billion-share average volume, posted last week.
The most active NYSE member firm for program trading last week
was again Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), followed by Morgan Stanley
(MS) and Deutsche Bank AG's (DBK.XE, DB) Deutsche Bank Securities
Inc. unit.
Program trading encompasses a wide range of portfolio-trading
strategies involving the purchase or sale of a basket of at least
15 stocks.
