NYSE Euronext (NYX) and London Stock Exchange Group PLC's (LSE.LN) Turquoise Services Ltd. said Wednesday they will provide trading of U.S. stocks through their European platforms, with trades on the securities allowed during European hours.

The NYSE Euronext will offer the services through its NYSE Arca Europe platform, the exchange said in a statement.

Trading on the components of the S&P 100 Index will begin in the second quarter, and further stocks are expected to be introduced "in the near future," it added.

Turquoise will offer trading in 175 U.S. equities, American Depositary Receipts and exchange-traded funds in 19 markets from April 23, it said in a separate statement.

Among the stocks allowed for trading in European hours are Citigroup Inc. (C), Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Alcoa Inc. (AA).

Both are launching the service after clearing arrangements with the same house, European Central Counterparty Ltd., became available.
