Panasonic Redefines Whiteboards With Three-User Capability & Fingertip Drawing

infoComm - Panasonic System Networks Company
of America today announced release of the world's first interactive
multimedia whiteboards allowing simultaneous operation by as many
as three students, seamless fingertip or electronic pen drawing,
and full-screen media display.
Available in two screen sizes and aspect ratios(1), the new
elite Panaboard UB-T880 models also feature Panasonic's exclusive
low-glare, classroom-tough screen surface technology, a built-in
stereo amplifier with recessed speakers subtly integrated into the
Panaboard's frame, single-button initialization of image or other
media display through a supported document camera and a robust
array of standard options(2).
"I won't claim that Panasonic has totally reinvented the
multimedia whiteboard with the UB-T880 Series," said Bill Taylor,
President of Panasonic System Networks Company of America. "But we
have certainly redefined it."
Mr. Taylor noted that the basic chalkboard introduced into
American schools more than 200 years ago enabled a degree of shared
effort unobtainable with previous-generation electronic
whiteboards, which compromise a teacher's ability to send a group
of students to the front of the class to collaborate on solving
equations, drawing maps and a host of other tasks.
"The UB-T880, which allows up to three students to work on
assignments concurrently, merges the interactive whiteboard's
ability to capture, present and manipulate full-color static,
animated and auto/video media with the traditional chalkboard's
capacity to teach the value of cooperative effort," Mr. Taylor
added.
In addition to their revolutionary multi-sensor screen
technology, both UB-T880 Series models incorporate advanced
circuitry enabling graphics to be created or moved around the board
by finger gestures, electronic pen or Panasonic's four-color
electronic marker. A boon to teachers who find electronic pens and
pointing devices intrusive, the UB-T880's "finger-painting"
technology also translates into bottom-line cost savings for
financially challenged school districts -- particularly when more
than one student is working at the board.
The suggested retail price* of Panasonic's Panaboard UB-T880 is
$2,695, and the suggested retail price for Panasonic's Panaboard
UB-T880W is $3195.
