Corning Taiwan's Taichung Plant Had Power Outage Over Weekend

Corning Technologies Taiwan Co.'s liquid-crystal-display
glass-making plant in Taichung had a power outage over the weekend,
the company said Monday.
"There were no injuries. We are currently assessing the impact
that the power outage will have on glass-making operations," Alan
T. Eusden, president of Corning Technologies Taiwan, said in a
statement.
Corning Technologies Taiwan is a unit of Corning Inc. (GLW). Its
customers include some of the island's largest flat-panel makers,
such as AU Optronics Corp. (2409.TW) and Chi Mei Optoelectronics
Corp. (3009.TW).
"We have a team of experts working on this and we will provide
an update when more information is available," the statement
said.
Corning's Taichung factory is one of the world's largest LCD
glass-making plants, according to the company's Web site.
The company declined to provide details.
