Emageon to provide system for enterprise-wide content management
and visualization of medical images BIRMINGHAM, Ala., June 22
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Emageon Inc. (NASDAQ: EMAG), a leading
provider of enterprise visual medical systems to hospitals and
healthcare networks, announced today that it has entered into a
digital healthcare information management agreement with
MidMichigan Health, a major regional health system in Central
Michigan. The five-year agreement calls for the implementation of
Emageon's Enterprise Visual Medical System(TM) (EVMS) across the
entire MidMichigan hospital system, including MidMichigan Medical
Center-Midland, MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin, MidMichigan
Medical Center-Clare and Gratiot Medical Center. MidMichigan Health
is replacing an older, single vendor radiology PACS with Emageon's
enterprise product to provide enterprise-wide content management
and visualization of medical images and related patient
information. The new system will be tightly integrated with their
hospital information system (HIS) and will include the migration of
MidMichigan Health's prior proprietary imaging studies to a
DICOM-based, standards-based system. "We undertook the selection
process for our replacement PACS very carefully," said Harlan
Goodrich, Vice President and CIO. "Our goal was to implement an
enterprise approach for our image management project and Emageon
was able to accomplish this with their EVMS technology. Their
technological understanding of our enterprise goals and objectives
was one of the factors in the final decision. Emageon's ability to
provide advanced visualization tools for all physicians and each of
our four Medical Centers through a web-enabled interface matched
MidMichigan Health's enterprise vision and architectural standards.
Additionally, Emageon has a very strong presence in the Saginaw
Valley which further supports its commitment to our project.
MidMichigan Health is excited about the partnership with Emageon
and looks forward to a long and productive relationship as we work
together to support our healthcare continuum goals." "We are
pleased to enter this relationship with one of Michigan's leading
healthcare systems," said Chuck Jett, Emageon's Chairman, CEO and
President. "MidMichigan Health, like many of our other major
healthcare network customers, was an early adopter of a
departmental PACS system and moving forward to a robust enterprise
architecture is a logical next step for them. We share a vision of
a completely integrated medical imaging solution that will extend
across MidMichigan Health's entire enterprise. We believe
MidMichigan Health is well prepared to take full advantage of our
enterprise content management, radiology department workflow and
enterprise-wide 3D medical imaging visualization products. We are
honored to be a key element of their strategic enterprise vision."
