Mueller Water Products Continues To Structure Corporate Staff

- Jeff Sprick Promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief
Accounting Officer - ATLANTA, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Mueller Water Products, Inc. (NYSE: MWA; MWA-B) is pleased to
announce the promotions of Jeff Sprick to senior vice president and
chief accounting officer; Jason Ausher to vice president -
corporate controller; Walt Smith to senior vice president -
treasurer; and Dan Grucza to vice president - environmental, health
and safety. The Company also is pleased to announce that Katrina
Blauvelt has joined the organization as director - corporate
communications and public affairs. "These key appointments help to
further establish the corporate staff of Mueller Water Products as
a separate entity from our former parent company, Walter
Industries," said Mueller Water Products Chairman and CEO Gregory
E. Hyland. "We are very pleased with the caliber of talent that we
have been able to promote internally, as well as the strong talent
that we have attracted from outside the Company." Having served as
the chief financial officer during the period when Mueller Water
Products was a subsidiary of Walter Industries, Sprick brings his
extensive knowledge of the new organization to his position. The
Company is in the process of an executive search for a chief
financial officer. The company will announce its new CFO in the
near future. In the meantime, Sprick will continue as interim CFO.

Mueller Water Products public and in the spin-off from Walter

the new organization." Sprick began his career in accounting with
PricewaterhouseCoopers, before joining Walter Industries as vice
president of corporate accounting. Prior to his role with Mueller
Water Products, Sprick also served as senior vice president and
controller of Walter Industries. A Certified Public Accountant,
Sprick holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from
the University of Michigan. As vice president - corporate
controller, Ausher is responsible for the preparation of financial
information for SEC filings, external and internal financial
statements, financial reporting systems and accounting policies. He
will report to the chief accounting officer. Previously, Ausher
held positions of progressive responsibility with Walter
Industries, Inc. He also has held positions with Digital Lightwave
and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has a Bachelor's Degree in
Accounting from Saint John Fisher College and is a CPA. Smith is
responsible for the Company's capital structure, funding, cash and
risk management activities. He joined Mueller Group in 2000 as
corporate treasurer, and has served as vice president and treasurer
since 2004. Prior to joining Mueller Group, Smith held a variety of
financial and treasury positions with Rubbermaid Inc., Cummins
Engine Company and Hobart Corporation. He holds a Master's Degree
in Business Administration, as well as a Bachelor's Degree from
Miami University in Ohio. In his new role, Grucza will work with
all subsidiaries to ensure operational compliance with applicable
regulations, and will serve as liaison between the Company and
regulatory authorities on matters pertaining to environmental and
safety issues. Grucza was previously director - safety and
environmental compliance for Walter Industries, Inc. where he was
responsible for corporate compliance with all EPA, OSHA and other
regulations, among other responsibilities. Grucza also is a veteran
of General Electric, where he spent 14 years in environmental,
health and safety roles. He holds a law degree from Faulkner
University, as well as a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering
and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn
University. Blauvelt is responsible for developing and maintaining
effective relationships with all corporate external constituencies
in order to build the Mueller Water Products brand as a
full-solution industry leader in water infrastructure and flow
control products. She also will be responsible for internal
communications and community outreach. Most recently, Blauvelt
served as director - corporate communications for Atlanta-based
Philips Consumer Electronics, where she directed external and
internal communications, as well as community affairs programs for
the North American division. Previously she served as public
relations manager at The Home Depot. She also has held positions of
increasing responsibility in communications and journalism
throughout her career. She holds a Master's Degree in
Communications Management from Syracuse University and a Bachelor's
