What a time for an IPO. I smell a short, thanks for the heads up.

Pizza chain stands to take in $150M from its part of 24.1M share offering.

May 19, 2004: 8:37 PM EDT

Domino's Pizza Inc., the second-largest pizza chain, Wednesday set its planned initial public offering at 24.1 million shares at an estimated price of $15 to $17 per share.

The Mich.-based company plans to sell almost 9.4 million shares while shareholders may sell about another 14.7 million shares in the long-awaited IPO which comes at a time when there is investor hunger for restaurant stocks.

The proposed size and price were disclosed for the first time in an amended offering document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As part of the IPO, private equity firm Bain Capital plans to sell almost 7.7 million shares, reducing its stake to 43.8 percent from 65 percent, according to the document.

Under the terms the company could raise as much as $150 million in proceeds and shareholders could generate another $250 million based on the high end of the estimated price range.

The underwriters, led by J.P. Morgan and Citigroup, will have the option to buy 3.6 million more shares to cover over-allotments, the company said in the document.

Domino's Pizza operates more than 7,400 take-out and delivery stores, including franchises, in the United States and more than 50 countries. Its biggest competitors are Yum Brands Inc. (YUM: Research, Estimates), the Pizza Hut chain, Papa John's International Inc. (PZZA: Research, Estimates) and privately held Little Caesar Enterprises Inc.

nyse:sjm Smuckers net profit fell, they blame a slip in sales of jams. Is this because jams go on bread or carbs, and the less carbs eaten the less spreads are used. nice article. more stocks out there to post poorer than expect results due to the low carb culture.

Its a sad day when bread becomes a taboo food. Is been around since literally the beginning of human kind and now we figure out that eating fried meat is better for you, when everyone starts dying in a few years of clogged arteries, people will change their mind

Wheat is a staple. The staff of life, but now food is so cheap and nuturious its so easy to put on the fat and the carbs are their allies. My concern is not obesity, but that companies like monsanto might modify our food stripping it of calories, so we can eat as much as we like and not get fat. The trouble is we will then become like cattle eating all the time just to survive.

Wall-Mart would love it.

There is just no possible way that I could ever give up bread in this life or the next. Give this whole carb counting psycho babble another year and those people that have scoured the earth to lose weight without excercise will take up a new diet, which is ALWAYS a fight against something that is an obvious staple of a healthy diet WITH excercise.
