American Defense Systems, Inc. (ADSI) (NYSE
Amex: EAG), a provider of advanced physical security products for
Defense and Homeland Security, has introduced Cold Fire Tactical™,
a new military-grade fire suppressant. The product is being sold
under license from Firefreeze Worldwide, Inc., which provides ADSI
exclusive rights to market the product to the United States Marine
Corps.
The product is based on Firefreeze's Cold Fire® technology, a
non-toxic and eco-friendly fire retardant and suppressant. ADSI
engineers are developing dispersal systems to equip the company's
armored Crew Protection Kits (CPKs) with Cold Fire Tactical, which
will add an additional layer of protection for U.S. service men and
women operating construction equipment in hostile environments.
"Cold Fire Tactical represents an ideal expansion of our current
line of physical security products," said ADSI's chief executive
officer, Anthony J. Piscitelli. "Our opaque and transparent armor
solutions have for many years protected our military personnel from
the destructive force of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in
Iraq and Afghanistan. Cold Fire Tactical now addresses the
potentially devastating effects of fires caused by IEDs and other
weapons."
Cold Fire is a unique, environmentally friendly wetting agent
that breaks the chemical chain reaction of fire and cools 21 times
faster than water. As compared to fire suppressing foams that
merely smother the fire by eliminating oxygen, Cold Fire
encapsulates the fuel source, preventing re-ignition and rapidly
eliminates the heat. This means it can put out fire faster and
safer, with less water, less damage to property, and less risk to
those fighting the fire, and allows for immediate handling of burnt
materials.
Cold Fire can extinguish any Class A or B fire, hydrocarbons or
polar solvents, as well as metals, tires, asphalt and other ignited
materials. It also suppresses vapors and helps to contain spills.
The technology is approved by Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
Added Piscitelli: "Our Marines and other military service
personal need a solution to prevent and mitigate the effects of
fires caused by enemy attacks, and we are proud to offer this
unique product that advances our mission of serving and protecting
those who serve and protect us."
