China Architectural Engineering, Inc. (CAE) (AMEX: RCH), a leader in the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of high-end curtain wall systems, today reported that it has been awarded two contracts for major new projects in the Chinese cities of Huhhot and Shouguang. Together, the contracts are valued at approximately $11.3 million, to be booked during the 2008 fiscal year. Ken Yi Luo, China Architectural Engineerings Chairman and CEO, commented, These projects, the first two for CAE in 2008, are among the most exciting and high-profile of our recent engagements. The Shouguang Cultural Center will be the focal point for that city, and the Sheraton Hotel Huhhot will likewise be a landmark building. The latter project complements another on which CAE was a major contractor, the newly finished Huhhot Baita Airport Terminal extension, where CAE designed fabricated and installed the roofing and curtain wall systems. The new engagements at Huhhot and Shouguang give further proof to the growth of CAEs reputation for both sound workmanship and exquisite design. In Huhhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, CAE will design and build the external faade for the Sheraton Hotel Huhhot. The value of the contract is approximately $7.6 million, and the project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2008. The proposed hotel development (shown here in an artists rendering) is about 20 minutes from the Inner Mongolia Baita Airport. It will include 350 rooms with a total construction area of approximately 790,000 square feet, and is expected to open to the public in the fourth quarter of 2009. CAE is contracted to design, engineer, fabricate and install an external faade system made up of semi-hidden frame glass curtain walls, aluminum external cladding panels and terra cotta external cladding panels. In Shouguang, one of the major cities of Shandong province, CAE has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $3.7 million to build the external faade for the citys new cultural center. The project started at the end of December, 2007, and is expected to take 12 months, with revenue recorded during fiscal year 2008. CAE is under contract for engineering, construction management and installation of the faade work. The cultural center is designed by one of Chinas most famous architectural institutions, the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tongji University, and will involve a total investment estimated at up to $25 million. Its construction area of more than 420,000 square feet will include the city library, museum, concert hall, youth activities center and other public facilities.
