U.S. Dairy To Be Tracked On
Blockchain
The Dairy Farmers of America (DFA)
is a U.S. cooperative owned by dairy farm families. The group will
now be testing blockchain technology for the dairy supply chain.
This method is clearly beneficial, as seen by the adoption of major
corporations like Walmart, and governments such as that of the UK
using blockchain to track agricultural products as well.
Specifically, the DFA partnered with ripe.io to transform the food
supply chain for data transparency, so consumers can be confident
in their food from farm to home. Through the pilot project, DFA is
hoping to increase supply chain transparency and better connect our
farmer owners with customers. David Darr, Vice President
Sustainability and Member Services at DFA: “Consumers today want to
know where their food comes from and blockchain technology, like
ripe.io, gives consumers real-time data, which can really help
increase trust and confidence about food production from start to
finish.”
Italy Joins European
Blockchain Partnership
The European Blockchain Partnership
was created in April of this year as vehicle of collaborative
innovation and regulatory discussion amongst EU member states. It
launched with 21 countries, and has most recently been joined by
Italy, Greece, Romania, Denmark and Cyprus. Minister of Economic
Development, Labour and Social Policies Luigi Di Maio: "Joining the
partnership will allow Italy [...] to define its own line in the
development of [blockchain] technology — a practice which the
previous government had never implemented".
Metamask Wallet Adds Ledger
Support
Trezor and Ledger are the primary
hardware wallets on the market for cryptocurrencies. MetaMask added
support for Trezor hardware wallets last month, and has now
released an update for Ledger as well. With this feature, it gives
users the safest way to use their crytpocurrencies. Hardware
wallets are “cold” wallets, meaing they are not connected to the
internet in any way, prevent possible hacking. However it makes use
of the coins take much more time. With these updates, Metamask is
providing the convinience of a hot wallet to the security of the
cold storage style wallet. Users can sign transactions and
messages, check and Ledger account balance.
