Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC

The Board of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC has today (20/03/01) declared
a fourth interim dividend in respect of the year ended 28 February 2001 of
4.8p (net) per Ordinary 10p share (2000 fourth interim - 4.4p), making a total
of 18p (2000 - 17.2p) per share.

The fourth interim dividend will have a record date of 30 March 2001 and will
be paid on 18 April 2001 to Ordinary shareholders on the register at the
record date.
