                   Correction to Previous Announcement
                                    
Birkby  PLC  announced  on  2 September 1998  that  it  acquired  90,000
ordinary shares of 5p each on 2 September 1998 for cancellation.

The  announcement  should have stated on 2 September  1998  the  Company
acquired 95,000 ordinary shares of 5p each at a price of 178p per  share
(representing  0.19%  of  the  Company's  issued  share   capital)   for
cancellation.
