Joint Development Agreement to develop and supply Byotrol
based products to consumer markets in the UK and Ireland
and an extension of the standstill agreement with a Fortune 150 Corporation
Byotrol plc ('Byotrol' or 'the Company'), the leading AIM listed anti-microbial
hygiene company, is pleased to announce that its joint venture, Byotrol Consumer
Products Limited ("BCP"), has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with
McBride, to develop a liquid hard surface cleaner targeted at the consumer
markets in UK and Ireland. Under the JDA, Byotrol and Robert McBride Ltd, a
member of the McBride Group of companies, Europe's leading supplier of Private
Label household cleaning and personal care products, will develop and jointly
market the product through to the end of the calendar year 2010. Once the
development programme is completed, the two firms intend to enter into a licence
agreement to jointly supply the product to retailers.
In addition, in December 2009, Byotrol entered into a six month standstill
agreement with a Fortune 150 corporation over exclusive rights to enter into
negotiations for the use of Byotrol's technology in the fields of pre-saturated
wipes and certain surface care liquids. This agreement offered the option of a
three month extension subject to the payment of further non refundable fees.
The counterparty has taken up their extension rights and will pay Byotrol and
BCP US$120,000 for the extension.
Commenting on the agreement, Gary Millar, Chief Executive at Byotrol plc, said:
"The agreement with McBride is further evidence of progress in our strategy of
partnering with significant suppliers and specialist distributors to our target
sectors, whilst also providing additional endorsement of the technology.
McBride is well recognised in Europe as one of the major forces in the private
label market, and is found in all leading retailers. This gives Byotrol a
considerable lead into this sector.
"We are also greatly encouraged by our ongoing relationship with our Fortune 150
partner."
