ThinkGeek, a Geeknet (Nasdaq:LNUX) company and the premier retailer for the global geek community, announced today that it now ranks 232 for overall web sales, according to Internet Retailer's 2010 Top 500 Guide.

The Top 500 Guide is an annual report chronicling and analyzing the largest 500 e-retailers in the United States. In last year's guide, ThinkGeek ranked 250 in web sales.

"Innovative custom products and superior merchandising were instrumental to ThinkGeek's success in 2009," said Caroline Offutt, President and General Manager of ThinkGeek. "We continued to produce products that appealed to people's inner-geek, which helped to drive our increase in sales."

The success of custom ThinkGeek products such as the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag and Electronic Rock Guitar Shirt, both best sellers during the 2009 holiday season, shows that mainstream culture is becoming more interested in geeky products.

"ThinkGeek grew online sales 24 percent last year in a very difficult economic environment," said Kurt Peters, Internet Retailer's Editor-in-Chief. "The company did a good job of thinking through its business plan and diversifying its inventory with a broader range of attractively priced products."

Internet Retailer's definitive ranking and analysis of America's 500 largest e-retailers is based on annual 2009 Internet sales, researched by Internet Retailer and confirmed by retailers. This report includes company financial, operational and performance data, as well as vendors in key categories.
