Business Wire
Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) will showcase its innovative
fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) solutions in a variety of ways at SUPERCOMM
2005, to be held June 6-9 in Chicago. In its interactive exhibit
(booth #19039), Corning Cable Systems will feature its products in
a literal representation of an entire access network, all the way
to the customer premises. The exhibit will contain a
fiber-to-the-home model for both single-family and multi-dwelling
units, as well as a fiber-to-the-business model in which customers
will be able to see exactly where the Corning products fit into
their network. Products from Corning Cable Systems Evolant(TM)
Solutions for Access Networks will be "deployed" in the exhibit.
Through its Evolant(TM) Solutions for Access Networks, Corning
Cable Systems offers specialized portfolios of innovative products
and services that enable customers to cost-effectively deploy fiber
in the last mile. The Evolant Solution also contains Corning(R)
NexCor(TM) fiber, an SMF-28e(R) optical fiber innovation, with
industry-leading attributes that address the unique needs of FTTx
networks, while maintaining total backward compatibility with
legacy standard single-mode fibers. The Corning Cable Systems
Access Product Display Vehicle will also be featured at SUPERCOMM
2005. The Product Display Vehicle is outfitted with a
representation of Corning Cable Systems' complete Access solution,
bringing the optical Access network directly to its customers. It
will be on display in booth #25070. Corning will recognize
individual excellence in FTTx deployment with the presentation of
its second annual FTTXcellence Award, co-sponsored with Lightwave
magazine. The award winner has been nominated by a peer for his or
her contributions to the deployment of optical access networks in
North America. The award will be presented at the National Science
& Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP) luncheon on June 8
at Chicago's McCormick Place. Additionally, Corning will
participate in the ITU-T-sponsored FTTP Interoperability Showcase
in booth #76088, featuring passive optical network (PON) equipment
operating in accordance with the ITU-T G.984 and G.983 series of
Recommendations. Featuring a complete optical distribution network
with products from Corning's Evolant(TM) Solutions for Access
Networks with NexCor(TM) Fiber, the PON equipment interoperability
demonstrates the maturity and reliability of products for the FTTx
market. For more information on the showcase and a complete listing
