Perceptive Pixel, the leading developer of advanced user interface
solutions, and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW), a world leader in
specialty glass and ceramics, today announced that they will be
demonstrating a prototype of Perceptive Pixel's 82-inch advanced
multi-touch LCD display featuring Corning® Gorilla® Glass at the
2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jan. 10-13,
2012 in Las Vegas (Corning Booth, # 12642). This prototype device
represents the largest touch display to feature Corning Gorilla
Glass, adding Corning's thin, visually stunning and durable glass
to the world's largest projected capacitive (pro-cap) flat-panel
display technology.
Perceptive Pixel's 82-inch pro-cap flat-panel LCD display is the
largest in the company's array of true multi-touch solutions used
by professionals across many industries including broadcast,
defense and intelligence, energy, oil and gas, and digital content
creation. The Perceptive Pixel 82-inch display features unlimited
touch points and a remarkably slim form factor measuring just six
inches in depth. It is optically bonded for ultra-low parallax,
providing the most precise touch experience possible. By
integrating Corning Gorilla Glass, Perceptive Pixel opens up new
possibilities for organizations to use its 82-inch multi-touch
display in a horizontal orientation where there is a greater risk
of impact damage.
"We're proud to include Corning Gorilla Glass, the toughest
display cover glass on the market, in our revolutionary 82-inch
multi-touch LCD display," said David Slobodin, VP hardware
engineering, Perceptive Pixel. "Gorilla Glass, combined with
optical bonding, gives our customers extra confidence in our
display's durability while maintaining the outstanding image
quality and ultra-precise, high-fidelity interactive experience
Perceptive Pixel is known for."
Continuing a 160-year tradition of innovation in materials
science and technology, Corning has engineered Gorilla Glass as an
environmentally friendly cover glass for high-end display devices.
Corning Gorilla Glass has a unique composition and undergoes a
chemical strengthening process, resulting in properties especially
suited for use as a durable, scratch-resistant cover.
"Corning Gorilla Glass is ideal for use in the most advanced
display technologies in the marketplace, from smartphones to
large-scale displays," said Dave Loeber, business director, Large
Cover Glass, Corning. "The beauty and toughness of the glass make
it the right choice for seamless and sleek designs, while its
thinness allows for a high level of sensitivity to handle today's
most sophisticated multi-touch applications."
