Banco Santander SA (SAN.MC) has hired Google's Aiaz Kazi as Chief Platform Officer, it said Monday.

Mr. Kazi, who was head of platform ecosystem for Google Cloud at Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL), will "support the bank's transformation to become an open platform for financial services," the lender said.

In his newly-created position, he will report to the bank's chief digital and innovation officer.
