Privately held baby product manufacturer Kolcraft is recalling
96,510 Jeep Liberty branded baby strollers in the U.S. and an
additional 510 in Canada owing to the possibility that the inner
tube of the tire can rupture, leading to the risk of injuries and
property damage, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission.
The strollers in question were sold at juvenile specialty stores
as well as major retailers including Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD),
Toys "R" Us and Burlington Coat Factory between June 2010 and this
month for $150 to $180 each.
Kolcraft and the CPSC have received 39 reports of such tire
ruptures, which caused the wheel to fracture and fly off. There
have been 18 reports of injuries, including 14 among adults that
were filling the tire with air. Two reports included property
damage.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact
the company for a replacement wheels, the CPSC said.
The three-wheeled Jeep strollers were made in China between June
2010 and September 2011.
