EDMONTON, Oct. 13, 2011 /CNW/ - Canadian Pacific and Edmonton-based, Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) Regimental Society will hold a news conference on Friday, October 14, 2011. -- CP President and CEO, Fred Green and Colonel of the Regiment, Major-General (Retired) H. Cameron Ross, will release details of the partnership to support soldiers and their families. -- The media conference will take place at 12 noon at CP's South-Edmonton Yard, 7935 - 103 Street at south end of yard. (Access to site is off Gateway Blvd) Adding to the colour of the event will be both modern and historic tanks and mounted soldiers in ceremonial uniform. A signing ceremony and special unveiling will take place. Following brief remarks, scrum and photo opportunities will be available. Canadian Pacific and Lord Strathcona`s Horse (Royal Canadians) Regiment: The deep connection between Canadian Pacific and the Regiment goes back to the Boer War when CP Senior Director Donald Smith, who drove in the last spike on November 7, 1885, established the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) to support Canada's efforts in South Africa. Since the Boer War, through other armed conflicts and during times of peace, CP and the  Strathcona's have maintained a proud connection, leading up to the special relationship with the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) Regimental Society.
