LONDON--Sierra Rutile Ltd. (SRX.LN), a mineral sands producer, said Thursday that Robert Edwards will to join the company as independent non executive chairman of the board, effective immediately.

Mr. Edwards replaces Michael Barton as chairman, who stepped down on March 2 to pursue other career opportunities.

Currently, Mr. Edwards is a director of MMC Norilsk Nickel (GMKN.MZ), GB Minerals Ltd. (GBL.V) and Highcross Resources Ltd.

Shares of Sierra Rutile at 0806 GMT trading flat at 17 pence.
