Norwegian telecoms provider Telenor ASA on Tuesday raised its
full-year guidance after seeing a strong performance in the Nordics
combined with a growing subscriber base and increased data
consumption in Asia.
The company posted a second-quarter net profit attributable to
shareholders of 2.19 billion kroner ($244.7 million), from NOK4.43
billion last year. Net profit last year was boosted by a NOK1.7
billion gain from the sale of its Canal Digital subsidiary. Revenue
fell 6.3% to NOK27.16 billion.
Analysts polled by FactSet had expected net profit of NOK2.83
billion and revenue of NOK27.84 billion.
The second-quarter mobile subscription base grew by 1.7 million
compared with the first quarter, to 170.3 million.
Telenor said the pandemic is still ongoing and continues to
impact its operations in Asia, but it expects a gradual recovery in
the Asian markets during the second half of the year.
For 2021, Telenor now expects organic subscription and traffic
revenue growth of 0%-1% and organic earnings before interest, tax,
depreciation and amortization growth of 0%-2%. It had previously
expected organic subscription and traffic revenues and Ebitda to
remain around 2020 levels.
The capex-to-sales ratio is still seen at 15%-16%.
