Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. (COG) late Monday said third-quarter net earnings were $38.9 million, or 38 cents a share, compared with $67 million, or 65 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Earnings excluding certain items came in at 41 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected earnings excluding items of 35 cents a share. Total revenue at Cabot Oil fell to $207 million, from $244.8 million in the same period last year.
