Publication of Competition Commission's determination of Northern Ireland
Electricity's price control.

The Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation (the Utility Regulator) has
today published the Competition Commission's final determination in respect of
Northern Ireland Electricity's (NIE) transmission and distribution price
controls which will apply for the period from 1 April 2012 to 30 September
2017.

NIE welcomes the publication of the report. A key aspect of the Commission's
determination is the closer alignment of the regulatory framework and reporting
arrangements with those applied by Ofgem (the GB regulator). NIE fully supports
this change which should facilitate future price control reviews.

NIE now looks forward to working closely with the Utility Regulator in
implementing the Commission's decision.
