Norwegian Appeal Court rules in favour of Kvaerner following Bergesen
challenge

LONDON, 28 SEPTEMBER 2000: Kvaerner, the Anglo-Norwegian engineering and
construction Group, today announced that a Norwegian Appeal Court has ruled in
favour of Kvaerner, following an appeal by Bergesen d.y. ASA.  Bergesen had
appealed the decision on Tuesday 26 September by the Probate Court, following
its petition to force Kvaerner's Chairman, Christian Bjelland, to step down
from his role at the opening of the Extraordinary General Meeting on Friday of
this week.  

The Appeal Court rejected Bergesen's appeal.  Costs were awarded to Kvaerner.
