FIRST PACIFIC SELLS INTEREST IN DARYA-VARIA FOR US$35 MLN

First Pacific announced today that it has agreed to sell its entire 89.5 per
cent interest in Darya-Varia to a member of United Laboratories, Inc. Group
("Unilab") for US$35 million.


The sale and purchase agreement was signed today and, subject to the
fulfilment of standard conditions, it is anticipated that the sale will
complete on or before 28 December 2001.


Darya-Varia is a listed Indonesian subsidiary of First Pacific engaged in the
manufacture, marketing and distribution of prescription and over-the-counter
pharmaceuticals.


Unilab is a leading regional health care group.


ING Barings advised First Pacific on the transaction.
