"One of our 2006 goals was evolving the US LEC network for the delivery of next-generation, IP-based services without accelerating our capital spending past our historic levels," said Alan Fitzpatrick, senior vice president of engineering for US LEC. "Not only will the Tekelec softswitch enable us to provide new customer solutions, but the capital cost of adding new customers is incrementally lower." This addition now equips more than half of its network with next-generation, IP-enabled switching capabilities. This year, US LEC has added more IP-based enhancements and upgrades to its network than any other time in its 10-year history.
