The German truck and bus maker is part of a joint venture, announced Wednesday, to produce battery cells for electric commercial vehicles with engine manufacturer Cummins and truck maker Paccar. The investment will total between $2 billion and $3 billion and include a 21-gigawatt-hour factory in the U.S., Cummins said. Each company will hold a 30% stake while Eve Energy, a battery-cell maker, will hold 10%. The venture will initially focus on lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
