Jevic Helps Local Flood Relief Victims; Caring Company Reaches Out to Help Those in Need DELANCO, N.J., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Burlington County-based Jevic Transportation, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Transportation (NASDAQ:SCST), today will take part in a relief effort organized by the Emergency Services division of Catholic Charities for victims of the July 12 flood in Burlington County. The motor carrier will transport approximately $13,000 worth of donated bed linens and pillows from Federated Logistics in Cherry Hill, NJ to the Fellowship Alliance Church in Medford, where Emergency Services representatives will oversee distribution to those in need. "When we got the call asking for our help, we didn't need to think twice, these are our neighbors, friends, and employees," said Jevic President and CEO Paul J. Karvois. "We are glad to be able to assist in the way we know best - by providing safe and secure transport of needed goods." In addition, the Jevic trailer will remain on site until Friday, August 13, providing temporary storage until all supplies have been distributed. "Jevic has been just wonderful to us," said Emergency Services' Community Affairs Manager Erin MacCord, whose office is just down the road from Jevic in Delanco. "We've called on them numerous times in the past - they're long-time supporters of Emergency Services. They really care about the community. As soon as I told them what we needed, they said, `absolutely.'" Heavy rains on the evening of Monday, July 12 flooded hundreds of homes, damaged roadways and breached area dams, leaving many residents homeless and in need of basic necessities. Catholic Charities' Emergency Services division is working in conjunction with the American Red Cross and other local non-profits to coordinate relief efforts. In addition to the organization's regular services, which include emergency food, clothing and household items, Emergency Services is holding a school supply drive and providing crisis counseling.
