Corning to Showcase Latest Innovations for Consumer Electronics at CES 2014
02 Gennaio 2014 - 2:30PM
Developments in Corning® Gorilla® Glass and Optical Cables to be on
display
CORNING, N.Y., January 2,
2014 - Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today
announced its plans for the International Consumer Electronics Show
(CES) in Las Vegas beginning Tuesday. The Corning Booth, #11612
Central Hall, will feature a variety of Corning®
Gorilla® Glass
solutions as well as Thunderbolt(TM) and USB 3.Optical Cables by
Corning and will offer demonstrations to show how they support
today's consumer electronics trends.
Gorilla Glass demonstrations will highlight the
motivation behind Corning's newest innovation, antimicrobial glass;
the effectiveness of its antireflective technologies; the benefits
of its notebook applications; and the latest breakthroughs in
scratch resistance and retained strength.
Corning will also showcase Gorilla Glass for
large-format applications. Gorilla Glass markerboards will be on
display in the booth. Corning, eBay Inc., and Planar Systems (NYSE:
PLNR) will combine their expertise in specialty materials,
software, and digital signage display hardware to present retail
applications of the future, as seen in "A Day Made of Glass." Show
attendees can enjoy a retail experience without ever setting foot
in a store by way of a visionary demo simulating an 84-inch
diagonal window storefront.
Optical Cables by Corning will showcase video and
data transfers enabled by its world's first all-optical fiber
cables for use with Thunderbolt. The exhibit will showcase a
Thunderbolt 2/4K workflow transmitting at speeds up to 20Gb/s and
spanning more than 200 feet. Also, daily sessions on
"Changing the Future of Production and Post" and how Optical Cables
by Corning fit into this future will be offered by Gary Adcock,
Thunderbolt authority and post-production and workflow expert.
"Corning is always innovating, and we're excited
to showcase a set of technologies that use glass to improve the
user experience both visually and technically," said Wendell P.
Weeks, chairman, chief executive officer, and president.
Look for news on many of the technologies
mentioned here to come out next week.
