MSI Motorola Solutions Inc

Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI) posted a fourth-quarter profit in the business mobile and networks company's first period reporting results.

The provider of public safety radios, handheld scanners and telecommunications network gear was born earlier this month in the split of Motorola Inc., which broke it off from the legacy company's higher-profile smartphone and set-top box operation. It reported fourth-quarter results on a pro-forma basis.

Motorola Solutions reported a profit of $194 million, or 57 cents a share. It didn't provide year-earlier net income figures in a press release.

Revenue jumped 13% to $2.25 billion.

Shares closed Wednesday at $39.24 and were inactive in recent premarket trading.
