KEY FACTS

  • The geo-diverse Sentinel® Patriot® 9-1-1 call processing solution subcontracted from Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company helps ensure no single point of system failure for the two Virginia counties. Designed for next generation (NG) 9-1-1 applications, the solution is based on current and evolving critical communications technologies and standards. This allows for the sophisticated design of backup, disaster recovery and overflow operations with the assured ability to provide reliable service under unexpected conditions. The geo-diverse deployment model provides maximum system survivability, and the efficient network architecture design minimizes data traffic and bandwidth usage for ongoing cost savings.
  • The NG9-1-1 solution suite designed for York and James City County includes solutions for advanced mapping and complete information management and managed services including disaster recovery, monitoring and response, and antivirus updating.
  • The geo-diverse architecture was implemented using the existing York and James City County mission-critical microwave network, enabling backup and overflow functions without relying on the local exchange carrier.
