Mykrolis Acquires Extraction Systems Acquisition Augments Mykrolis's Gas Microcontamination Control Product Line BILLERICA, Mass., March 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mykrolis Corporation (NYSE:MYK), a leading supplier of components and subsystems to the semiconductor industry, announced today it acquired privately held Extraction Systems, Inc. (Extraction) for $25 million in cash. Based in Franklin, Massachusetts, Extraction's products are used to measure and remove airborne molecular contaminants in the semiconductor manufacturing process. If not precisely controlled, contaminants can cause wafer defects and impact manufacturing yields, as well as damage sensitive semiconductor manufacturing equipment. According to Jean-Marc Pandraud, president and chief operating officer of Mykrolis, Extraction's equipment and consumable products are used on major lithography exposure tool and track systems found in semiconductor fabs around the world. "The addition of Extraction Systems will fit well with our existing gas microcontamination control business and will increase our product and technology offering in lithography, one of the most rapidly growing areas in the semiconductor industry," said Pandraud.
