PR Newswire (US)
DALLAS, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tyler Technologies, Inc.
(NYSE:TYL) announced today that the City of Las Cruces, New Mexico
has contracted for ERP software solutions and services from its
MUNIS division. Valued at nearly $1.2 million, the contract
includes a combination of Financial, Human Resource, Revenue and
Productivity software, as well as professional services and ongoing
maintenance and support. Additionally, the city has selected
Disaster Recovery and Operating System/Database Administration
services from Tyler. The agreement, which makes the City of Las
Cruces the first local government in New Mexico to select Tyler's
MUNIS software as its financial solution, demonstrates Tyler's
commitment to serving the local government sector in the western
United States. "Our public sector software solution is a perfect
fit to address the challenges faced by the City of Las Cruces,
making the city an excellent addition to Tyler's growing list of
clients in the western United States. This agreement certainly
opens the door to Tyler serving other municipalities in New Mexico
and throughout the southwestern region of the country," commented
Richard Peterson, Jr., President of Tyler's MUNIS division. Peter
Gilbert, Information Technology Manager for the city, cited several
factors that influenced Las Cruces' decision to purchase Tyler's
MUNIS software. "The City of Las Cruces selected MUNIS from seven
other proposals as the product that would meet most of its needs
from one ERP solution. We also considered that Tyler's MUNIS
products and their ongoing development strategy were most in line
with the direction that the City of Las Cruces was moving toward,
particularly the use of Microsoft SQL Server, Crystal Reports and
integration with ESRI Geographic Information System," explained Mr.
Gilbert. According to Mr. Gilbert, the city wanted to update its
aging and costly mainframe and midrange systems with the
Microsoft/Intel platform, as well as improve access to information
by implementing Tyler's MUNIS applications. He stated, "The city
hopes to greatly increase end user access to its own data by
leveraging Crystal Reports and by disseminating information to city
leaders, executives and the public through MUNIS OnLine products."
One key element of Tyler's MUNIS software applications that
appealed to city officials is their complete integration. "We
believe that the greatest advantage to MUNIS is the tight
integration of all the products. Replacing three separate systems
with one ERP system will have a major positive impact on the City
of Las Cruces," said Mr. Gilbert. Las Cruces lies within the
Mesilla Valley beside the Organ Mountains and along the famed Rio
Grande River. This southern New Mexico city has a population of
approximately 80,000 and is rich in culture and history.
Established in 1849, it serves as the county seat for Dona Ana
