Clients choose EnerGov’s permitting, licensing
and public maintenance management software suites for its leading
functionality and scalability
The EnerGov® planning, permitting and licensing solution from
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has been selected by more than
60 government agencies since EnerGov was acquired by Tyler less
than two years ago. Tyler takes a partnership approach with its
clients, which includes EnerGov employees providing all
professional services, implementation and ongoing technical support
rather than outsourcing these critical duties to third parties as
is common with other software vendors.
In addition to earning dozens of new client relationships,
EnerGov is also winning contracts from some of the largest and most
sophisticated government agencies, including Kansas City, Missouri,
which awarded Tyler a contract valued at nearly $6 million to
replace the city’s aging permitting software with EnerGov. Rather
than trying to upgrade its legacy system, the city conducted a
competitive review to find a modern and fully integrated solution
provided by a sustainable vendor committed to a partnership with
the city, and ultimately partnered with EnerGov.
“We chose EnerGov for several reasons, including its intuitive,
state-of-the-art workflow capabilities that will assist in managing
and streamlining our complex business processes,” said Kansas City
Assistant City Manager Rick Usher. “With its integrated use of
mobile technology, we see EnerGov as a modern system that will
provide the most efficiency and value to our citizens and
staff.”
For governments like Kansas City that value mobility, EnerGov
introduced the iGovernment concept with its iG Workforce suite of
native apps designed for the iPad® and other tablet devices. These
mobile apps let government workers manage case loads, inspections,
code enforcement and plan review processes anywhere, anytime.
EnerGov’s iG apps have won the Esri® Mobile Application of the Year
award.
Other significant new EnerGov relationships include the cities
of Charleston, South Carolina; Gilbert, Arizona; Henderson, Nevada;
and North Vancouver, British Columbia. The new client relationships
that EnerGov established in the second quarter of 2014 alone
represent a 128 percent increase over the prior-year quarter. And,
despite 95 percent of available new contracts involving highly
competitive RFPs, EnerGov has won four of every five deals it has
pursued in 2014. EnerGov software suites are designed to automate
and connect critical processes, including land use planning and
project review, permitting, licensing and regulatory, inspections,
code enforcement, citizen requests, public maintenance and work
order management.
New deals have also been driven by Tyler’s evergreen philosophy,
which includes all related software updates and any required data
migration as part of annual maintenance fees; other software
vendors typically charge licensing fees, often significant ones, if
clients want their software updated. EnerGov also includes data
conversion without costs additional to the contract amount, and
conducts that data conversion with Tyler’s EnerGov staff, not
outsourced third parties.
“EnerGov’s technical merits attract government agencies of all
sizes, but even more important to our clients is how Tyler takes a
very client- and services-centric approach to business,” said Brett
Cate, president of Tyler’s Local Government Division. “That
partnering mentality is in stark contrast to other vendors who hand
off new clients to third parties, often before the ink dries on
their contract. Clients know that Tyler will be there for them,
shoulder-to-shoulder through implementation, training and beyond.
That, and our ongoing investment in the EnerGov solution as a
flagship Tyler product, presents significant long-term
sustainability and financial stability for our clients, and a very
strong ROI for their taxpayers.”
