PARIS-- French lenses maker Essilor International (EI.FR) Wednesday said it bought a 50% stake in Xiamen Yarui Optical Company Ltd as it continues its policy of buying rivals in emerging markets.

Xiamen Yarui Optical, China's leading supplier of mid-range sunglasses, has 850 employees and generated revenue of about EUR42 million ($57.1 million) in 2012, Essilor said.

The company didn't disclose the amount paid for the acquisition.
