Gas Natural SDG SA (GAS.MC) presented Wednesday an outline of its 2018-22 strategy, including a plan to change the company's name to Naturgy Energy Group SA.

Under the strategic plan, the Spanish energy company will focus on efficiency, simplifying management structures and generating cash in an attempt to improve performance, following 2017 results that underwhelmed analysts.

Chief Executive Francisco Reynes, who arrived at Gas Natural in February from Abertis Infraestructuras SA (ABE.MC), said the company doesn't rule out growing through acquisitions, but that it will be giving more importance to value than size. He added that Gas Natural isn't currently taking part in any transaction.

The strategic plan will be presented in full on Thursday in London.
