Standard Chartered PLC (STAN.LN) said on Thursday that it will
open a new office in Warsaw, Poland, with 750 roles to provide a
service center supporting clients in North America and Europe.
The office is set to open in September, and the full complement
of roles will be filled over a five-year period. Bart Nash, head of
corporate affairs in Europe for Standard Chartered, told Dow Jones
Newswires that many of the Polish roles will be analytical and
technical, including in cyber-security.
The Polish office joins existing service centers in China, India
and Malaysia. Mr. Nash said the majority of employees would be
hired from the local area.
"As the bank increases its focus on clients based in Europe and
the Americas, we believe it has become essential to create a
western hub that can support them fully in a more beneficial time
zone," said Stephen Sheridan, chief operating officer for Europe
& Americas, in a statement.
