Italy's Eni Plans to More Than Double Congo Republic's Electricity Supply

Italy's Eni SpA said it plans to increase power supply in the
Republic of Congo, after President Denis Sassou Nguesso inaugurated
a new electricity turbine at the Central African nation's chief
power supplier.
Guido Brusco, executive vice president for Sub-Saharan Africa at
Eni--which owns 20% of Centrale Electrique du Congo--said
possibilities for the construction of a fourth turbine is already
underway to allow the country to increase its power generation to
1,000 megawatts.
The cost of the investment for the current turbine was not made
public, but Mr. Brusco said new investments for the fourth turbine
will enable Congo to market energy to neighboring countries.
