ciao xant,in giro ho letto che e'prossima la revisione del provenge da parte della fda,e le aspettative sono positive per un lancio di provenge nel 2008,a gennaio dovrebbe essere dato l'ok,tutti si aspettano una chiusura intorno ai 10$,vedremo.io sto dentro fino alla fine,senti se al tuo frend gli risulta il tutto.saluti.Fra l'altro,volevo darti una notizia su neopharm,NEOL,sembra che prima della fine dell'anno comunichino qualche news relativa ai test clinici.saluti ancora.

Back in May, the FDA outraged cancer patients when it delayed the approval of Dendreon's Provenge, a vaccine for prostate cancer. Two months earlier an FDA panel approved Provenge in a 13-4 vote, and though the FDA isn't required to follow the panel's recommendation, it almost always does. The FDA told Dendreon that it would require more data before the vaccine could be approved. Provenge missed the goal of reducing the advancement of cancer but did lengthened survival rates in a small clinical trial.
Now three Congressmen--Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN.); Rep. Mike Michaud (R-ME) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH)--are calling for an investigation of two members who voted against the drug's approval. They contend that academic medical oncologists Maha Hussain and Howard Scher may have a conflicts of interest that interfered with their ability to make an unbiased decision on Provenge.
"Many ethical questions remain about the two panelists who voted no on approving this drug," Michaud said in a statement. "I believe that the FDA should not be appointing scientists leading the testing of a rival drug for another firm onto an advisory committee evaluating Provenge... I believe we must examine conflict-of-interest issues with some medical advisers who are chosen to review drug therapies at the FDA. A full disclosure is necessary in order to restore confidence in the FDA."

NEW YORK, December 17 (newratings.com) - Analyst Jonathan Aschoff of Brean Murray maintains his "sell" rating on Dendreon Corp (DNR.FSE). The target price is set to $1.
In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that the data for the company’s Provenge drug indicates that the drug lacks efficacy and survival benefits for heterogeneous HRPC patients. The drug failed to meet its predefined primary endpoints in both D9901 and D9902A, the analyst says.

A me sto Jonathan Aschoff mi sta sul piffero....è sempre lui quello che spara fango su DNDN....non è che abbia qualche interesse nel farlo crollare, per poi comprarlo ai minimi e mettere in tasca un gain da paura all'ok della FDA?

A me è stato riferito stamattina di non preoccuparmi,mi dicono che tanti stanno realizzando,però vedete voi il da farsi,se siete in gain uscite ed eventualmente risalite sul treno quando si è stabilizzata un pò.Buona giornata a tutti

Su google finance vedo le dndn scambiarsi a 6,5 / 7 dollari. Un salto in avanti deciso, ma senza alcuna news a riguardo. Forse i shortisti sono tutti usciti e si vuole partire con posizioni long.

forse.ma ci sono rumors su una possibile semi-approvazione di provenge da parte della fda.questo pero' non si sa quando,qualcuno in altri forum usa sostiene questa settimana,altri dicono il giorno 29 gennaio.staremo a vedere.saluti

Ciao xan,buona sera anche a ate,cmq ci sono novita'.Basta consultare il sito cnbc.com,la prosima settimana ci sara'l'audizione della commissione energia e commercio sulla vicenda provenge.Poi sembra che sia stata fissata al 29 gennaio l'esame della pratica Provenge da parte della FDA.Ho sentito varie opinioni in giro e tutti sembrano sicuri dell'approvazione almeno parziale del provenge.Cmq con il nasdaq in rosso oggi dndn si e' comportato davvero bene,io ho incrementato la mia posizione,spero lunedi' o martedi' di cambiare la machhina.saluti a tutti.Se so qualcosa di nuovo ve lo comunichero'quanto prima.buon fine settimana(anhe se da me piovera').

Dendreon (DNDN) jumped sharply today when the company announced exactly what I told you they would. With the huge short interest, though, I am not surprised that there is so much FUD (Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt) circulating about this company. I told you that the current clinical trial is under a Special Protocol Assessment with the FDA, and that Provenge will get approval if it shows a statistically significant survival benefit at either the interim peek at the data around April 2008 or the final data due in 2010. I also told you that the company has powered the interim peek for approval -- that means there will be enough patient data to meet the 95% statistical significance level if Provenge works as well in this trial as it did in the prior two.
Here's a typical negative response from Jonathan Aschoff, an analyst with Brean Murray & Co. He said that today's rally was unwarranted because the ongoing study will likely fail its primary goals, as did two earlier Phase III trials. "If this one fails, it will be the third time around" and likely doom the medicine, he said.
But what he neglected to say is the primary goal this time is survival, and the last two times it was tumor shrinkage. He also neglected to say that the two prior studies met the secondary goal of survival. I don't believe these are accidental omissions, because he went on to repeat the current FUD rumor on Dendreon: The prolonged-survival data was seen in a trial whose design may have favored Provenge, by including too many sicker patients in the placebo group and not enough such patients in the group taking the vaccine.
This is almost certainly completely false, because (1) this is an old trick that the FDA caught on to more than 20 years ago, and (2) Dendreon hired numerous ex-FDA examiners to hammer on the application during the rolling filing process, looking for any weakness, and stacking the deck with sick patients is elementary school stuff.

You may recall that last month, three congressmen wrote the House Energy and Commerce Committee to ask for a hearing into allegations that undislosed financial conflicts of interest among FDA advisory committee members may have swayed an agency decision last spring to delay approval of Provenge, a prostate cancer vaccine being developed by Dendreon.
The move capped several months of controversy over the role of the panel members, in particular, Howard Scher, an oncologist at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center in New York. Scher was one of two FDA panel members who wrote the agency urging a go-slow approach. It so happens that Scher also serves on the scientific advisory board of ProQuest Investments, a venture capital firm that invested in Novacea, which is developing a rival cancer med.
Apparently, the publicity was too much for ProQuest. Since the congressmen released their Dec. 13 letter, the venture capital firm took down the page on its web site that named the members of its scientific advisory board. And so it’s no longer easy to determine that the controversial Scher is affiliated with ProQuest. We’ve written two senior partners, including Jay Moorin, the founding general partner, for comment, but no one has yet responded. For his part, Scher has kept a very low profile over the past few months, declining to directly answer questions.

Ciao simo,a me non ha riferito niente di così rilevante.La notizia che hai postato tu positiva è positiva,e mi ha detto che gioverà sicuramente al titolo,ma non è quello di cui parlava lui.Non so dirti di più,come già detto con questa persona è anche difficile parlarci,ma a questi prezzi mi dice sempre di non preoccuparmi,e se voglio di incrementare.Possibile qualche fiammata,ma non da 30-40%.Questo è quello che mi dice,se vi può aiutare mi fa piacere,ma non basatevi solo su quello che vi dico,anche se fino ad ora non si è mai sbagliato.Buona giornata
