Clarion Housing Group - Fire safety update

Clarion Housing Group continues to take action to ensure fire safety across its taller buildings.

Clarion's programme started with 186 blocks equating to around 6% of Clarion's overall stock. Clarion chose to focus initially on buildings which were 6 storeys or over and we have completed comprehensive checks on all of the blocks we own including cladding, the internal safety of these buildings and housekeeping arrangements.

The Group Board met early in July to review our initial approach to fire safety at Clarion. The Group Executive Team had established a dedicated project team to provide oversight of this strand of our work, building upon the existing expertise Clarion has internally around fire safety. For example, the person leading the technical programme oversaw the response on the remedial action for the Southwark stock after the Lakanal fire and we have a dedicated Fire Safety Team within our Health & Safety department, including accredited Fire Safety Engineers. The Group Directors have all received a full briefing on this work and staff have also been given support on providing reassurance to our residents. All residents living in 6+ storey blocks have been provided with fire safety advice and over the next few weeks Clarion will be providing all residents with advice on fire safety in the home.
