Thrive Global and Discover conduct survey
exploring the relationship between health and money through Thrive
Sciences, a new in-house research practice
Thrive Global, the behavior change technology company founded by
Arianna Huffington, and Discover, an industry leader in direct
banking and payment services, announced today the launch of
Thriving Wallet, a new initiative exploring the relationship
between finances and whole human well-being. Thriving Wallet
illustrates the connection between financial, mental and physical
health by leveraging compelling storytelling to highlight research
and new insights, and features new Microsteps–Thrive's small,
science-backed steps–that individuals can incorporate into their
daily lives to help improve their relationships with money and
achieve brighter futures.

Thriving Wallet is the first Thrive Global initiative dedicated
to exploring the relationship between money and overall well-being.
Through video, editorial and social content, consumers will find
expert advice, inspirational personal stories, and data-driven
insights demonstrating how building healthy habits through Thrive’s
signature Microsteps and Discover’s tools, resources and products
can help improve their financial well-being. And an online quiz
will help consumers set individual goals and determine which
specific financial priorities they should focus on in the year
ahead.

Thriving Wallet and Thrive Sciences launch with original
research, commissioned by Discover, that explores the connection
between financial health and overall well-being. The study found
that nearly 90% of individuals say that financial considerations
have an impact on their stress levels. Additionally, 35% of survey
respondents reported wishing that they could have a fresh start
with regard to their finances, even as they acknowledge that they
have no idea where to begin. Thriving Wallet aims to jump-start
positive behavior change and help reframe our relationship with
money, so people can live their lives with less stress and more
joy.

About the Data Collected by Thrive Global and
Discover
A nationally representative sample of 3,005 U.S. consumers was
surveyed by Thrive Global, commissioned by Discover, between the
months of October and November, 2019. Respondents’ ages ranged from
18 to 91, with 52% of the sample identifying as female and 48%
male. Generations were defined in accordance with Pew Research
Center standards: Generation Z, born after 1997 (8%); Millennials,
born between 1981 and 1996 (20%); Generation X, born between 1965
and 1980 (36%); Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964 (25%); and
Silent Generation, born between 1928 and 1945 (11%).
