EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has been awarded a $4 million contract from Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) to develop next-generation testing equipment for the Minuteman weapon system. Northrop Grumman is the prime integrating contractor to the Air Force for ICBM Prime Integration Contract for the Minuteman III Weapons System. EDO will design and manufacture 20 portable circuitry test sets that will prevent damage to the Minuteman Weapon System by measuring and detecting electrical current and voltage levels in the system�s cables. �EDO continues to expand its line of specialized testing equipment designed to detect potential damage or failure of complex military platforms,� said James M. Smith, EDO�s chief executive officer. �Whether it�s testing operational ground equipment or electronic systems onboard military aircraft, EDO has high-end engineering solutions.� After the design phase, EDO is scheduled to begin delivery of the 20 test sets in 2009. Follow-on options include the production of an additional 86 test sets for approximately $4.5 million.
