Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA.MI) said Thursday that it is working with RELX PLC (REL.LN) subsidiary LexisNexis Risk Solutions to offer insurance policies tailored to individual drivers based on their previous driving performance.

By using telematics devices built into Fiat Chrysler vehicles, the companies plan to assess the level of risk associated with individual drivers and formulate customized policies for them, the Italian-listed auto maker said.

Fiat Chrysler and LexisNexis will develop their collaboration through a pan-European insurance panel that collates data supplied by auto manufacturers and insurers.

From 2020, Fiat Chrysler customers will be able to opt into the system and share their driving data with the company. In exchange they could get a better policy, Fiat Chrysler said.
