U.S. memory-chip maker Micron Technology Inc. (MU) and its Taiwan partner Nanya Technology Corp. (2408.TW) plan to announce later Thursday that they won't cooperate with Taiwan Memory Co., said a person familiar with the situation.

Nanya and Micron are planning to make the statement at a news conference starting 0630 GMT, the person said.

Micron and Nanya have said previously they are in discussions about a potential cooperation with Taiwan Memory, a new chip company being formed in which the Taiwanese government plans to inject funds.
